The award of 50.000 Euro is handed out for the third time at the Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund.
The intention of the Eurimages Lab Project Award is to reward the most promising “cutting edge” film of the works-in-progress part of New Nordic Films. The award is to be given to a film that is experimental, either in form or content, or is moving outside the traditional film production framework. It shall also be a result of international co-operation. The films presented in work in progress are either in production or postproduction. The award shall contribute to the completion of the film.
The award in 2017 went to:
Director: Jesper Ganslandt. Producers: Jesper Kurlandsky, Hedvig Lundgren, Juan Libossart. Production company: Fasad, Sweden.
The jury states:
The jury was impressed by the footage proposed and the approach of the director to this original story. A child point of view on a journey to live seems for this jury relevant and topical. This story screams to be told.
Special mention where given to the films Alma and The Second Sex.
The jury consisted of Doina Bostan, counsellor in the Romainian Film Center, Islandic writer and director Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson, Nikolaj Nikitin, the Berlinale’s foreign delegate for Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Caucasus, Finland, Norway and Sweden, and Håkon Skogrand, long-year Program Director for the Norwegian International Film Festival and Film Adviser in Film & Kino.
