Out of seven scripts presented for producers and directors in this years Co-Production and Finance Market, Rebecca Figenschau wins the award for best script pitch at New Nordic Films 2016 with her project “Let There Be Light!” (La det bli lys!).
The project was voted forward by the participants at the market and presented to Rebecca Figenschau by workshop host Kirsten Bonnen Rask and head of New Nordic Films Gyda Velvin Myklebust. The award consists of a week in a writing retreat in Barcelona sponsored by The Writers Guild of Norway.

The story explores Lily’s journey with her newly saved mother, who decides to leave her dark past behind, and start a new life within a church community in Sweden. All Lily wants is to feel close to her mother, which she thinks of as an almost magical creature.But as her mother draws closer to God, Lily starts to feel lonely and disconnected. She uses all her power to find ways into her mother’s bubble, and manages to get inside just before the bubble starts to burst.
Rebecca Figenschau is an Oslo-based scriptwriter and director. She has written and directed several short films, and was recently selected by the European Film Promotion as “one to follow”.
