The young factory worker Karoline fights to survive in Copenhagen in the time after the First World War. When she becomes unemployed, abandoned and pregnant, she meets Dagmar, a charismatic woman who runs an underground adoption agency, where she helps mothers find families for their unwanted children. Because Karoline has nowhere else to go, she takes on the job of nursing the infants. A strong bond develops between Karoline and Dagmar, but her world shatters when a shocking truth dawns on her. The Girl with the Needle is the third feature film by the Swedish-Polish director Magnus von Horn. He has previously made the films The Here After and Sweat. The Girl with the Needle premiered in the main competition at Cannes 2024.
