The Nordic film market and co-production market, New Nordic Films, has once again received support from the EU’s Creative Europe MEDIA program.
The support is granted for a two-year period, covering 2024–2025.
– The support from Creative Europe is a significant recognition that New Nordic Films is in the European top league as a film market and serves as an effective hub for co-productions within the Nordic region and between the Nordics and Europe. This invaluable support, together with contributions from the Nordic Film & TV Fund, the Norwegian Film Institute, and Filmkraft Rogaland, makes it possible to establish an efficient film market. This market facilitates valuable circulation of Nordic films, increases co-productions with Europe, promotes Nordic talents, and fosters greater European collaboration and exchange, says Gyda Velvin Myklebust, head of New Nordic Films.
Creative Europe is the EU’s program for the cultural and creative sectors, with a budget of €2.4 billion for the period 2021–2027. The MEDIA component of the program provides Norwegian stakeholders in TV, film, and video games with opportunities to fund projects, collaborate internationally, gain new skills, and reach broader European audiences.
