The Danish film Rose takes place in 1997, where Inger, her sister Ellen and brother-in-law Vagn go by bus to Paris. No one on board knows that Inger is schizophrenic, and it comes as a bit of a shock when she tells it over the bus' loudspeaker system. Especially the petrified deputy school inspector Skelbæk is outraged. It will be an entertaining bus trip and trip in Paris, where Inger turns out to have a hidden agenda. Along the way, the mentally ill woman also proves that one should not judge her in advance. The film manages to find a perfect balance. Whether it is in the balance between humor and drama, but also how it depicts a mental illness. The result is a popular and warm film with a fantastic performance by Sofie Grabøl in the lead role.
